Midsize SUVs: Family Feature Focus

Midsize SUVs like the Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade, and Toyota Grand Highlander emphasize family features: third-row comfort, rear entertainment, power liftgate. These features arrive at the mid-range trim. The base trim of a midsize SUV usually skips things families need most.

Luxury SUVs: Where Trims Get Expensive

Luxury SUVs compress fewer trims into a wider price range. A BMW X5 might have three trims spanning $65,000–$85,000, each with significant package options on top.

For SUVs, the features that matter most: AWD (weather and resale), cargo space (doesn’t change by trim), towing capacity (sometimes trim-specific), and safety tech (critical for family haulers). Screen size and seat materials are secondary.
